Moving to the Future...Creating Community Impact

Community impact is when lives have been improved because the community has been mobilized to create sustained changes in community conditions.

Our society and economy are vastly different than they were just a few decades ago. Today's social problems are harder to solve and cannot be effectively addressed without strategic coordination. No longer are agencies working alone able to address underlying community conditions.

As a community mobilizing organization, progress has been made at the United Way of Yellowstone County during 2003 to improve our ability to bring the community together around issues or opportunities that can best be addressed collectively and to achieve greater impact with our actions.

The organization took important steps by agreeing on what our business is and creating a plan to move forward. The business of the United Way is community impact-improving lives by mobilizing our community to create sustained changes in community conditions. The plan itself focuses on four key areas-community impact, brand leadership, resources and capacity (internal and external) and investor relations.
